What is your process when working with a new client and what can they expect when they start working with you

Grab Design:

It is becoming much more common these days for owners and landlords to work with interior designers, especially considering the high-quality design work and how affordable the services are now today in Thailand. Thailand people are starting to request to work with designers because they want to be sure to create the perfect mood for their home or their rental space.

We start with a discovery consultation where we take the clients brief and get a full and clear understanding of the client’s requirements and budget. We always take the required time to meet the client face to face (or by phone when the client outside of Thailand) as this starts the process in best direction to achieve a positive result for the client within their budget.

After our first consultation we prepare a mood board according to the brief (there is no charge for these services). A mood board is a collage of themed images that represents the style and creative direction we are recommending specific to the project. By providing the mood board, the client can see if we have answered their brief and if they like the mood and tone of our concepts before committing to working together. After this we will then move to the next stage which is providing consultation for the project and its specific requirements.

We are a small team so we working very closely with our clients giving them the best customer service and satisfaction throughout the whole process from design to completion of the job.

All our services including delivery and installation.

Does Grab Design manufacture the pieces, or do you source from other vendors as a final product? Can clients customize their own furniture?

Grab Design:

Over the last 8 years we have worked in partnership with the same high quality factories each specializing in either beds & sofas, chairs, armchairs, lighting, or decorations. We work on customized work with artists from Reunion island, Thailand, America and England …and of course, we customize furniture for our clients regularly.

What do you look for in a space that you will be designing first, before you start drafting up your designs? Where do you feel most non-designers go wrong when creating their own space, and what would help them avoid those mistakes?

Grab Design:

At first we look at 3 areas: Volume, brightness and material on site.

By balancing these three elements a successful interior design concept is achieved. Non-designers tend to over complicate the space and end up making the environment too busy.

Some properties have unusual layouts, in unusual spaces what issues do you try to solve first? What is one thing people should try to avoid when dealing with unusual spaces?

Grab Design:

The first question will be “what will the space be used for and by and whom? What is the final destination of this space?

Then we can start to thinking how to create volume effect and bring more light to the unusual space.

Particularly in unusual spaces we recommend our clients keep floor space as free as possible and choose wall mounted furniture to give the effect of more space. Keep in mind that lighting is the perfume of the design to create different cozy areas.

If you could only choose one piece of furniture or fixture you would like your clients to invest on what would that be?

Grab Design:

Without a doubt - LIGHTING

When planned and placed correctly, lighting is one of the most  important features in creating the ideal mood and identity in your Home or area.

What is the biggest/worst design mistake someone can make when trying to design their own homes or spaces? What advice would you give them?

Grab Design:

Color balance is critical. Incorrect selection of same style furniture can create a boring ambiance. Curtains as also very important point but must not be over done. It is better to wait before choosing finishing design of curtains, pillows, carpet, artwork as these items will create unity and should only be selected at the end of the design stage to be sure to not make mistake.

Where can people see samples of your work and what is the best way they can find you?
